Gisela Torres-Bonilla, MD, FAAD

Dr. Gisela Torres-Bonilla is a Board Certified Dermatologist with a passion for teaching and a commitment to care for all patients, from newborns to seniors, with hair and skin conditions. She is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Torres completed her Bachelor's degree in Biology Suma Cum Laude at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez, PR. She went on to Boston, MA to receive her Medical Doctor’s degree from Harvard Medical School. She trained at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX for her Internship in Internal Medicine and at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH for her Dermatology Residency.

Dr. Torres’ research experience includes a clinical research fellowship at the Center for Clinical Studies in Houston, TX where she studied treatments for psoriasis, herpes and shingles, among others. She also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Case Western Reserve University under an NIH training grant and a grant by the Dermatology Foundation. She researched the effects of ultraviolet light on the skin and the immunology of psoriatic skin. She has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters.

From 2006 to 2010, Dr. Torres practiced dermatology at the hospitals affiliated with Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and was assistant clinical professor of Dermatology in that institution. She took pride in teaching medical students and residents how to be compassionate, culturally sensitive physicians and thorough dermatologists. For this, her residents awarded her the 2010 Bryan Davis teaching award. Her family relocated to Florida to be closer to their native Puerto Rico.
